Oh Boy, are things really that bad George?

Bloated, sullen-looking and unrecognisable from his Eighties heyday, it seems bad karma has caught up with the Karma Chameleon.

Boy George appeared tired and withdrawn yesterday as he left his London home during what could be his last days of freedom.

The 47-year-old DJ, whose real name is George O’Dowd, was last month convicted of falsely imprisoning a male escort, who claimed the former Culture Club frontman had manacled him to a wall and whipped him.

Flabby: Boy George was unrecognisable yesterday as he contemplated jail

Judge David Radford has warned Boy George to expect a jail term when he is sentenced tomorrow.

The maximum sentence for false imprisonment is life.

Boy George handcuffed Norwegian Audun Carlsen to a wall while, he claimed, he investigated whether he had tampered with his home computer on April 28 of last year.

He claimed Mr Carlsen had removed photos of himself from the laptop, taken by Boy George when the pair met three months earlier.

As dawn broke, Mr Carlsen, 29, fled wearing only his underpants, and he quickly alerted police

Boy George denied that he punched or assaulted Mr Carlsen or swung a chain at him as the escort left the flat.

He suggested the bruises Mr Carlsen sustained could have been due to the fact that he was HIV positive.

The prosecution said the pair first made contact on a social networking site primarily for gay and bisexual men.

Prosecuting barrister Heather Norton said their first meeting seemed to be going well until the singer started to suspect Mr Carlsen of trying to hack into his computer.

Mr Carlsen told the court that Boy George concocted the story about computer tampering so he could punish him for not having sex during the first meeting.

He said: ‘I think he couldn’t handle the refusal – me not having sex with him.’

However, they parted on good terms and the singer paid Mr Carlsen most of the fee they had agreed upon.

In the weeks that followed, Boy George and Carlsen exchanged emails in which the singer accused Mr Carlsen of breaking into his computer system.

But in later emails the singer said he would be ‘perfectly happy to see you naked asap’.

Eventually the pair agreed to meet for a second time.
