Man shot for talking through Brad Pitt film

Last updated at 8:59 AM on 31st December 2008So much for festive spirit and goodwill to all men. A man was shot on Christmas Day by an enraged cinema-goer for talking through a Christmas screening of 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'.
James Joseph Cialella Jr., 29, of Philadelphia, was so incensed by a father and son chatting at the Riverview Theatre on Columbus Boulevard that he pulled out a .380 calibre gun and shot the father.
The gunshot victim, a Philadelphia man who has not been identified, told police a man sitting near him threw popcorn at his son and told his family to be quiet.

After a brief verbal exchange, Mr Cialella allegedly got out of his seat to confront the family when the father stood up to protect them and was shot once in the left arm, while the rest of the audience fled to safety.
Cialella promptly sat down to enjoy the rest of the film. Police arrived a short time later and arrested Cialella and confiscated his weapon, said police spokesman Lt.. Frank Vanore.
"It's truly frightening when you see something like this evolve into such violence," added Lt. Vanore.

The victim remained in stable condition last night at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital , according to investigators.
Mr Cialella has since been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and weapons violations.
