Is Xiaxue dead?Rumour has it that popular Singaporean blogger Miss Wendy Cheng, better known as Xiaxue, has died in a road accident on Christmas Day while she was in the United States.
According to a report by local Chinese paper Shinmin Daily News, several Netizens made posts on their blogs, claiming to have heard from friends that the blogger had died.
Netizen nousername said that Xiaxue was in Dallas, a city in Texas in the United States, when she met with an accident on a highway and died at the scene. The Netizen claimed that Xianue was the only person in the car when the accident happened, and that the blogger's site had not been updated since.
The news had varied responses from members of the Internet community. While Netizen reverselotus believed that no one will care about Xiaxue's death, others expressed concern and speculated as to whether the rumours were true.
A blogger by the name of VisciousCycle said that the rumour is likely to be 80 per cent false, but added that the online community had yet to hear from Xiaxue since Christmas Day.
Shinmin also quoted VisciousCycle as saying that, "Everyone knows Xiaxue is in the US, and it is a fact that the crime rate is high there."
A Shinmin reporter visited Xiaxue's blog and noted that the last post was dated December 22.
Manager denies rumoursXiaxue is alive and well, her manager said.
Responding to a query from Shinmin, Xiaxue's manager clarified that the blogger had already returned to Singapore from her US trip.
However, the blogger's manager did not agree to the Shinmin reporter's request for an interview with Xiaxue, offering instead to put forward the request.
When asked about the 'curse' that Netizens have cast on the blogger by alleging her death, the manager declined comment.
