Liang Court Shopping Centre offers free space to VWOs

LIANG Court Shopping Centre is offering rent-free space to Voluntary Welfare Organisations - the fourth mall to do so.
The 5,000 sqft space on the fifth Mezzanine floor of Liang Court Shopping Centre will house three VWOs, which have not yet been confirmed.
Liang Court Shopping Centre is the latest to join the Civic & Community Institution (C&CI) scheme, of which Bishan Junction 8, Jurong Point Shopping Centre, and Tiong Bahru Plaza are part of.
The National Council of Social Service (NCSS) is urging the VWOs in the new location to share resources to bring about cost savings, much like what VWOs at Tiong Bahru Plaza have done.
The Social Service Hub, which opened there last week now houses seven VWOs. The National Council of Social Service said the VWOs saved $750,000 in developmental cost, by sharing the 10,000 sq ft location.
They also save about $127,500 a month on rent, since they occupy a smaller area, and are part of the C&CI scheme.
