SINGAPORE: The first batch of pre-university students from the inaugural Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) started their lessons on Monday.
Starting from this year, junior colleges will only have one intake of students.
For year one students, their pre-university education kicked off in February instead of January.
Junior colleges, like Raffles Junior College, welcome the new arrangement. Teachers said it gives them more time to plan orientation programmes.
Students said starting the term with the same students in the cohort is less unsettling and allows them to build firmer friendships.
In the past, students were admitted for the first three months based on their preliminary school examination results and some students later switched courses or junior colleges after receiving their 'O'-Level results.
